Why it's hard to book

Lake Tahoe in summer: 3 million visitors, almost no campsites

Emerald Bay is arguably the most photographed location in California — the impossibly clear turquoise water, the 19th-century Vikingsholm castle, and the granite peaks draw millions of visitors every year.

Eagle Point Campground's ~100 drive-in sites are the only way to wake up here, and they book within minutes of opening on ReserveCalifornia. The 22 boat-in sites are even harder to get. Summer weekends are effectively impossible without a monitor.

CampWatch checks every 5 minutes so when someone's plans change, you're first to know. No refreshing. No luck required.
